Just Africa – Elephants & A Lot More

by John Elliott on March 31st, 2011

When the John Elliott film crew visited the high profile Just Africa store in High Street, Armadale, Melbourne, we had one special condition to fulfil: to make sure we took some photos of elephants, one of John’s favourite animals.

This short film with Cecil Joffe, a specialist in African Art, highlights Just Africa’s considerable range of Tribal Art, traditional Craft, contemporary homeware, jewellery and gifts.

This is a family enterprise, comprising of Cecil and Laraine Joffe, and their daughter, Annwen. Their passion and knowledge of African Art arose from living and working in Africa. Having established their first gallery of African Art in Johannesburg in 1970, they have accumulated a vast personal knowledge of the origins and cultural roots of African Art.

Over the years, they have developed a wide range of reliable sources of these unique African products, travelling to parts of the continent to personally select the best products available.

Everything on display must meet two criteria: it must be handmade in Africa, or by Africans. The Joffe’s strict commercial and quality policy is enhanced by their commitment to Fair Trade principles. This is a key factor in making this store a major attraction to interstate and overseas buyers, in search of quality African Art and African sourced products.
