Given my passion for elephants, I had no hesitation when recently approached by Frank Connelly one of the Melbourne based AFWE Directors in agreeing to post an article on my website to promote their human-elephant conflict initiatives in Asia where they use “lateral” management problem solving techniques to preserve elephant populations in specific problem locations.
The AFWE was established two years ago with the support of Professor Roger Short( Melbourne University) who is a leading international expert on Elephants. To date they have undertaken various trial projects in places like Sri Lanka to demonstrate “proof of concept” before proceeding to the implementation stage. However, to achieve their major elephant conservation objectives they need funding.
For those viewers also having a passion for elephants and are interested in supporting the AWFE on their plans to preserve elephant population numbers within these identified changing environmental and social locations, go to www.afuturewithelephants.org or contact Frank Connelly on 03 8502 0042 or email – thinkquick@me.com

Thanks for the comment Ross. Unfortunately we are still battling with the bureaucracy at Paypal to get the donation button working. We have satisfied all of their requirements and then some and they have acknowledged the mistake and still they haven’t addressed the issue. We are still trying to resolve it as I write but such a large organisation is rarely responsive to the needs of a smaller one – even when they are at fault!
Elephants are good fortune and highly intelligent – I read that Asian elephants in Burma migrant to over 3000m in the summer.
Also, your donations via PayPal (Future with Elephants) is blocked ….
Hi John,
Many thanks for your words and support.
If you get the opportunity Professor Roger Short of Melbourne University would be just brilliant for one of your video interviews.
Roger is probably the world’s foremost expert on elephants (and many other things!) and great in interviews. It was in fact one of his podcast interviews that got us all fired up enough to save the Asian Elephant.
Best Regards and Thanks again.
