Leigh Hobbs, the well known Melbourne author and artist recently visited the United Kingdom and Paris to meet with his publisher and booksellers of his popular “Mr Chicken Goes To Paris” children’s book which was released last year in London and Paris.

When Geoff (Jeff) Hook, the full time Herald Sun editorial cartoonist from 1964 to 1993 (well known for his J”hook” signature) published the political/football cartoon below back in October 1988, little did he know that he may have started a trend where Carlton in the 1999 preliminary final and last Sunday’s final, proved a stumbling block for Essendon’s (and its supporters) AFL finals aspirations.

Leigh Hobbs Goes To China
The well known Melbourne artist and author of the Old Tom, Mr Chicken and Mr Badger children’s illustrated books, Leigh Hobbs is travelling to China later this month to coincide with launch of four of his Old Tom books in Beijing by a Chinese publisher. Also Leigh will be giving student presentations at several international schools in Shanghai.

The John Elliott Report started following Leigh’s recent success shortly after Bloomsbury’s secured the UK and French distribution rights for selected Leigh’s books in 2009 including the popular “Mr Chicken Goes To Paris” which was launched in London and Paris mid last year. Leigh went to both London and Paris in October 2010 to support Mr Chicken’s book launches where initial sales, especially in Paris, exceeded expectations.
