An interesting transaction with a few twists that didn’t go unnoticed in this mornings financial press involved the buy back of the Dun and Bradsheet (D&B) Australian operation for $233m by D&B USA who in 2001 sold their local credit reporting and debt collection agency subsidiary via a joint AMP and Management buy back deal reported to be around $25m.

A Tie To Inspire
This is another tie from the creative Alynn Neckwear group where the detail and message, like your fire insurance policy, is in the fine print. At first glance this tie, with a splattering of gold lions against a background of foreign wording, would easily pass as either an old school or a gentleman’s club tie.
However, for those who can read Latin or Italian; the alleged English interpretation of the wording is, “Don’t Let The Bastards Grind You Down”. My friend, the same owner as the cartridge tie, uses this tie on days he needs inspiration or needs to convert a problem into an opportunity.

UK PM Came Out Of ”Left Field” - Will Abbott Do Same?
If the recent trend of left handers being elected as political leaders continues, then the odds are shortening on Tony Abbott, the left handed Coalition Leader, being the next Australian Prime Minister.
President Obama is a left hander as is the recently appointed youthful looking British Prime Minister, David Cameron who in similar circumstances to which Abbott is now facing, had to do a deal with a minority party, the Liberal Democrats, to gain power.
As good things happen in threes, it could be a good omen for Tony Abbott to become the first left handed Australian Prime Minister for some time.

Ties – More Than a Fashion Item
Interesting and quirky ties not only complete the well dressed male’s wardrobe, but also act as good conversation openers and can also be used to good effect in negotiation forums and situations.
This tie, made by the well known New York creative tie designers, Alynn Neckwear, belongs to a friend of mine who collects unusual and quirky ties with different themes whereas I stick to my daily elephant theme (and the Carlton footy tie when watching the Blues and the Elders tie at the annual XLANT function at Caterina’s).
Had A Busy Week? I Did
Last week the election occupied my time talking to my close friend pollster Gary Morgan who was conducting daily polls. Gary predicted last Tuesday when I interviewed him for our weekly website Father & Son segment that it would be a hung parliament. In fact, his firm Roy Morgan Research was the most accurate poll forecaster of all the national pollsters.
On Wednesday I had to arrange at short notice two interviews for my Channel 31 Big Jack Sports Show with Kevin Sheedy, who was in Melbourne for the day and Jason Akermanis. Fortunately my film prodcer, Nick Tortoni of Allegra Productions, was available to film them in my office. They were good interviews and some were shown last Monday night. Sheeds is a polished performer on and off the field and he is confident GWS will succeed
